Thanksgiving
As the instructors and students at Elite take the Thanksgiving weekend off to be with their immediate families, I wanted to take a minute to express how thankful I am for my Elite family. Elite has become a second home to me, a place I go for sanctuary and connection as well as for world class martial arts instruction and training, and it’s the people at the school who make it such an amazing place.
I’m thankful for the students at Elite, who always lift me up with their positive attitudes and energy. Whether I’m teaching them or training alongside them, I always learn something new and enjoy being on the mat with them. Additionally, as I’m learning to be a teacher I’m grateful to have such amazing students…truly they are teaching me and helping me along this journey as much as or more than I’m helping them along theirs.
I’m thankful for the instructors at the school; each one has different experiences and things to teach as well as a slightly different style and way of explaining techniques. More importantly, I know without a doubt that I can go to any of them for advice or support and they will help however they can in a heartbeat…and they are there for all of the students, always going above and beyond their job description to assist others. Each of them inspires me in their own way, and I’m incredibly grateful to have them in my life.
The people at Elite, from the newest students to the most experienced instructors, are universally wonderful and exceptional people. Whether in an everyday class or at a Krav Maga test or supporting one of our fighters at an MMA fight, everyone is truly there for one another…encouraging, guiding, pushing, and, if needed, holding each other up so he or she can stand side by side with his or her teammates. What an amazing thing to find in a world where people are increasingly disconnected from one another. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be a part of such a unique school. Happy Thanksgiving!
