Elite Training Center in Redondo Beach, CA had a Krav Maga promotion over the weekend. There were people supporting from many different programs such as MMA, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). We are always pleased and impressed with the execution of technique by our testers. Although our testers in this case were sharp, those who promoted exceeded our expectations. Of the 15 people who did move into our Advanced Krav Maga program, there wasn’t a single person who froze under the stress. It was a really fantastic thing to be a part of.
I wanted to take the opportunity to on that day to recognize a few of Elite Training Center’s members who are seemingly at every single promotion we do. You know who they are if you were in attendance. These three people truly understand what community and the commitment to improve it is all about. We all appreciate your output and support.
Commitment is a hard thing to come by these days. We are torn and tormented by taking a route that is best for “me.” What can benefit “me.” We see it often professionally in sports. When you have so much money and other material temptations being thrown at you it can be challenging. It is up to the group to continue to do the right thing, which is not always the easiest thing or most fiscally rewarding at the time. The most successful teams look past the “me” aspect. The greatest and most successful surround themselves with people who can make the unit work. This is sacrifice. There is something more than just “me.”
The collective movement of a team and someone leading from the front and being the example is what motivates a team. Our Krav Maga program does this in tests and promotions. Elite Training Center’s MMA team does this for one another and students alike. Our BJJ team rallies and supports each member too. Although these endeavors are taken on by an individual, the recognition and identification of the task at hand by all involved will lead everyone to success.
