Flow Like Water. Martial Arts (Part 1)

Martial Arts

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
― Bruce Lee

Mixed Martial Arts is exactly what it says it is, a blend of various arts
of war. In this case not with a mallet, an axe and a fully automatic M4,
but the modern competitive sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
MMA is comprised of subjective movements from standing, transitioning to
the ground and grappling. Essentially it is striking, takedowns and throws which lead
to submissions, escapes and control from the ground. All of these are to establish dominance
over an opponent. At Elite Training Center the MMA program embodies some of the best
disciplines in the Martial Arts world. For striking we teach Boxing, Muay
Thai and Western Kickboxing. Transitioning to the ground from standing,
the use of Judo and Wrestling is used. In order to submit an opponent,
escape or control from the ground, we implement Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Japanese
Jiu-Jitsu.
Yes, statistics say most fights end on the ground, but I can
“Iron Clad Guarantee You” that 100% of every fight starts STANDING.
Training consistently in all three areas is of the upmost importance to
drastically improve someones ability to direct where a fight goes, forcing
someone to play your game. Being able to control where a combative
competition is taking place is going to weigh Athena’s (Greek Goddess of
War) favor to you.
“The beauty of fluidity, seam-less movements from technique to technique;
from discipline to discipline.”–Rome
