Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)- The Clinch
Elements of The Clinch To Think About

The clinch is an objective position to reach against a skilled puncher and kicker if a fight has broken out. From the clinch the opponent will find it difficult to strike with full power because a jiu-jitsu stylist is so close while holding the man around the torso that there is no space to have the leverage to strike effectively or powerfully. Important elements to remember during the clinch are:
* Stay as close as possible to the person and move to the side or back clinch
position to avoid strikes.
* Have a good base with your legs.
* Force the person against a wall or car. This is optional yet effective.
* Stay relaxed, breathe and do not use strength carelessly.
* Keep your teeth together and your chin down, yet have good posture with your
torso.
* Avoid strikes such as: Head butts, knees to the midsection, rabbit punches or dirty
boxing, and watch for biting or eye poking; therefore, protect yourself!
* Always look for ways to take the person to the ground.
* Take advance of the poor balance and confusion of the opponent.
