Teamwork
As a preteen kid I wanted to play football, a team sport. But my mom wouldn’t sign the papers the coach needed to allow me to play (too dangerous, she said). I was an avid skateboarder, raced dirt bikes every other weekend and went surfing almost every day (all very individual sports involving little teamwork), so when I got into Martial Arts it was a perfect fit. It would seem like it’s common sense that the Krav Maga, MMA, and Kickboxing systems taught here at Elite Training Center are Individual sports. After all it is the individual who has to put in the hours of training day in and day out, week after week, month in and month out to become good at any Martial Art, right? The answer is yes and no. Yes: As a student you must make the decision to come in and take Krav Maga for Self Defense, Muay Thai kickboxing for striking and MMA and Jiu-Jitsu to become a well-rounded individual martial artist. However, to become well rounded in anything it starts with a good instructor, coach, and mentor. So, the answer is No: As an individual Krav Maga, Muay Thai kickboxing or MMA student you’re only going to practice a fraction of the techniques without a partner. The “individual” sport aspect of martial arts are only as good as your instructors and training partners. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re doing Jiu-Jitsu tournaments or are an aspiring MMA fighter, once the cage door shuts your individualism will make or break you. If you’re here for Self Defense your Krav skills can be the difference in saving you or your loved ones life. Teamwork is required to learn the basics of Krav Maga, MMA or Muay Thai. If you have ever watched a professional MMA fight, the winner thanks his coaches and training partners because without his/her team a fighter can only go so far. Even the best fighters in the world lose, and most of the time it’s because the fighter’s team had a weak link. Here at Elite, especially at the Advance and Master levels of Krav, MMA and Kickboxing, teamwork will literally pull you to your goal of Black Belt.
