Take a break…

Martial Arts Training

Elite will be closed from Monday, December 24th through January 1st, reopening on January 2nd.  It can be difficult to take a break from Martial Arts Training, but it’s extremely important to occasionally rest your body.  Many of us have nagging pains that will turn into more serious injuries if we don’t take care of them, and the times that Elite closes are the perfect opportunities to rest and rehabilitate.

The martial arts we train, from Krav Maga to Kali to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, put certain stresses on our bodies; give yourself a break from those stressors.  If you’re unable to simply rest, try something that your body isn’t used to (but ease into it slowly!).  It’s interesting how you can be in great shape for something like kickboxing or wrestling but if you’re not used to running or hiking or the flexibility demands of yoga you’ll be out of breath and sore until your body adapts to the new demands that are placed upon it.  If you must exercise over the break, try to change up what you do, but be sure to listen to your body.  Rest and allow yourself to recover in order to begin the new year fresh and ready to train!
