Martial Arts Elite
Many people at Elite, from instructors to students, have prior experience in martial arts. This experience ranges from many years spent in a completely different system to spending a few months in a different style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Krav Maga. It can be difficult at first, both physically and mentally, to learn something new. But if you persevere you will end up with a wealth of knowledge to draw upon.
It’s a challenge to teach your body to do something in a different way than it’s been trained. If you’ve thrown ten thousand round kicks one way and then a new school or teacher changes the mechanics of that kick, it can be even harder for you to adjust than it is for a brand new student to learn from scratch. This won’t always be the case, however, so try not to get frustrated. Eventually you will have options when it comes to that kick. You may find you like the new way better, or maybe you’ll stick with your old way. Or you may come up with a hybrid that suits your body type and skill set in a unique way. All knowledge is good, and if you approach your training with an open and relaxed mind you will find that you adapt much more quickly.
At Elite we welcome people from all martial arts backgrounds and are open to learning new things ourselves. Our systems are constantly being refined and adapted to address the most current trends and threats; this is one of the strengths of having five systems under one roof. They feed each other and give the student a great deal of knowledge from different systems that ultimately work together to offer a complete martial arts education.
