Are we so determined to learn things so fast and so quickly that tradition has fallen to the wayside? Is it the “full speed ahead”, “just be aggressive” mindset that can win out in a physical altercation? Sure it can, but what if my opponent or attacker has trained and studied? Now, you might say, “a martial artist or someone trained most likely wouldn’t attack me.” True, however “most likely” is the key phrase here. Let’s say I have 50% of my attacker’s skill and am just aggressive. Will I be successful? Chances are not in my favor.
I for one never want to take that chance. At Elite Training Center we offer and train in Krav Maga to create and imprint a martial mindset. To say that Krav Maga doesn’t focus on technique and steers away from more traditional martial arts would be like saying rain isn’t wet.
What makes the training of Krav Maga so different than traditional martial arts? Is a jab cross in Krav Maga different from a jab cross in Muay Thai / kickboxing? Are those strikes not imprinted and trained daily? Is a take down in MMA so different from a takedown in Krav Maga. Are the 1 and 2 strikes of Kali different from the 1 and 2 strikes in Krav Maga? The martial way is a warriors way. The warrior trains and makes the martial way his/her tradition.
