It’s easy to preach. But what happens to when you actually have to act on what you preach. Is it like monkey see, monkey do??… Each month in the kids bjj program, the kids work towards acting upon developing positive characteristics, thus being rewarded with points to be eligible for game day at elite… Last months characteristic was respect. Respect stood out to me the most by far because it’s a trait that requires self discipline…what I’ve learned is having respect for oneself and for others in martial arts, makes you appreciate the hard work and knowledge there is to offer.. During the our mat chat with the kids I’ve come to realize that I’ve gained a sense of pride and respect for the art of teaching. Although I may have my flaws but it makes me realize the respect and honor I have working with a very talented and humble instructor who understands my flaws and helps me work towards being better.. The respect I have for the kids that step on the mat to play games makes martial arts a fun and enjoyable lifestyle.
