This month’s character trait in the kids’ jiu-jitsu program is respect. As an instructor, I feel that this is important because respect sets the right examples for the children. Teaching kids to treat others the way they want to be treated is very important to life and Martial arts.
Martial Arts Teaches Kids Respect
Before I started martial arts I never really understood what respect was until I became apart of Elite Training Center . This academy has taught me to have self control with not only my training partners but with my family & friends. When I was younger I played a lot of team sports and I was a very selfish person when it came down to using team work. I was the type of kid that never wanted to share the ball & wanted all the attention on myself and no one else. Looking back at myself I was ashamed because of the fact that I had no respect for anyone not even myself but I am also proud of myself because i realized how I was wrong & I changed my ways.
Since the children and I have sat down and talked about respect I’ve seen how they have became more respectful to myself and their peers. It went from professor P. and I teaching them about respect, to them teaching each other about respect .
