Survival Camp! A great time was had by all! Each instructor had various survival techniques and tactics to teach. Elite was fortunate to have had special operations personnel on site from Navy SEAL Teams, Army RANGERS, and Marine Corps SCOUT SNIPERS to teach.
I was tasked with teaching the hand to hand combat section where we covered hay maker punch defenses into a leg sweep. Also covered was the parry of a straight punch into a head and arm choke aka arm triangle to a take down. This followed with a finish on the ground, proper disengagement and escape.
We next covered choke defenses on the ground, with guard escapes, thus integrating both Japanese and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Finally we addressed long gun disarms, functionality of the long gun and some movement to get one out of harms way.
It is very important for students to understand the impact of self defense in various conditions. We all become comfortable on the mat. When terrain changes technique has to adjust. We cannot become complacent in our training. We must prepare for all scenarios, which is why Elite organized this survival camp for our students.
